All About Me

DSC01362.JPG

Background

I discovered my love for teaching as a high school student back in 2007.  I was enrolled in a class called Environmental Education, where we taught elementary students about animals and the environment.  I had so much fun working with those students, that I could see myself doing this as my career.  I have worked in education ever since as a camp counselor, a substitute teacher, an after-school program leader, a classroom teacher, a technology integrationist, and an instructional coach.

I have passions for both teaching and learning. I received my bachelors of science in elementary education from Emporia State University, and I continued my education to receive a master's degree in STEM leadership from the American College of Education.  I have never stopped learning and I never will.

One thing I love about teaching is the opportunities that it has provided for my wife and I.  My first year of teaching brought us to a whole new world in bush Alaska.  After that, it swept us away to the magical country of Myanmar in Southeast Asia for five more years of teaching and most recently to Madrid, Spain.

Along the way I have always had my best friend and partner, Stefanie Sprenkle.  I met her in kindergarten, and we have got to experience all of our joys together in adulthood.  She is an amazing partner and a fabulous teacher too.  You can see her website here
